Will I pay Capital Gains Tax on returns from my investments?
Not on the first £8,200 of returns, thereafter you will have to pay CGT.
APCIMS has proposed that the threshold for CGT should be raised so that the first £10,000 of an investor's gains should be free of the tax. This would remove more than half the investors from the capital gains tax regime at an estimated gross cost to the Exchequer of only £27 million of the more than £1 billion CGT receipts.
